Senior Backend Engineer, Agent Runtime

Agento’s run engine executes every step of every agent: checkpoints, retries, approvals, and runs that last for days. You’ll help it scale to the next ten times more work while keeping it simple to reason about.

What you’ll do

• Design and build core parts of the run engine, from scheduling to state storage.
• Make retries, timeouts, and idempotency boring and correct.
• Work with product engineers to give every integration safe, scoped access.
• Own what you ship, from design doc to on-call.

What we’re looking for

• 6+ years building backend systems in production, ideally distributed ones.
• Strong TypeScript, Go, or Rust, and comfort with Postgres.
• Clear writing: we decide most things in short design docs.
• Care for reliability, and for the people who depend on it.

Nice to have

• Experience with workflow engines such as Temporal or similar.
• Exposure to LLM tooling or agent frameworks.
